The Ayers ACORN Answer

obama_anthem I have been watching the news and trying to figure out what the connection is with Obama and Ayers; Obama and ACORN.  I hear one thing on one channel and something else on another.  One person says the connections are important the other person says it is just the Republicans being desperate.  However, I think the two have a lot to do with Obama being Un-American.

Let’s begin with the Annenberg Foundation.  Walter Annenberg gave $500 million dollars to the American Public Schools to challenge a reform of the system.  The Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC) received $49.2 million of this $500 million to be distributed over 5 years.  William Ayers wrote the proposal that won Chicago the grant money.

From the Encyclopedia section of Nation Master:

The CAC’s successful grant application was written in 1993 by William Ayers, a professor of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago

At its founding, the Annenberg Challenge was made up of three constituent parts:

  • The Chicago School Reform Collaborative, co-chaired by William C. Ayers;
  • a Board of Directors initially recruited by the Collaborative, which was chaired from 1995 to 2000 by Barack Obama, at the time a practicing attorney.
  • The Chicago Schools Research Consortium, a research arm of the Challenge.
The Collaborative was the operative on the ground body of the Challenge. It was made up of representatives of various constituencies in the Chicago school reform movement. That reform movement had begun in 1987 in the wake of an unpopular strike by Chicago teachers. Bill Ayers was active in that reform effort through a group called the Alliance for Better Chicago Schools, or ABCs. ABCs was an alliance of various activists and reform groups that included the Developing Communities Project (DCP)which Barack Obama headed up at the time as well as Chicago United, a business sector group, that was headed up by Thomas Ayers, father of Bill Ayers.
The Board would engage in fundraising and approval of grants. The Board also hired a Executive Director, Ken Rolling, from Woods Fund of Chicago.

ayersflag Something to note here.  Obama was on the board of directors for Chicago’s  Annenberg Challenge from 1995 – 2002 and was founding president and chairman of the board of directors from 1995 – 2001.  Obama also was on the board of directors for the Woods Fund of Chicago from 1998 – 2001.

Obama and Ayers were together for a lot of different organizations.  They both worked on the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, Ayers was a part of ABC who was working with DCP which Obama headed up.  And Obama was on the board of the Woods Fund of Chicago which was one of the groups that helped dish out the money from the Chicago Annenberg Challenge.

So, how did the Chicago Annenberg Challenge do?  The whole report can be found here.  However, the IBD Editorial had a good article on Oct. 14:

Obama ran the fiscal arm (for CAC) that distributed grants to schools and raised matching funds.

Ayers participated in a second entity known as the Chicago School Reform Collaborative, the operational arm that worked with grant recipients. They met and talked often.

Ayers was more interested in transforming Chicago’s schools into vehicles for socialist revolution than in reading scores. He sought to use Annenberg’s grant to fund his dream of radicalizing both teachers and students. Obama helped him toward that goal, gaining what he thought would be an important credential.

Like most efforts to improve the government monopoly by throwing money at it, the CAC was a failure, and a costly one at that. The grant was conditioned on raising at least twice that amount in matching funds. With the grant, CAC had $160 million to throw at the problem.

So, Obama helped to spend $160 million dollars which resulted in nothing.

On page 14 of the executive summary (linked above) we find that "the Challenge had little impact on student outcomes." On page 15, the report says: "There were no statistically significant differences between Annenberg schools and non-Annenberg schools in rates of achievement gain" and that "any improvements were much like those occurring in demographically similar non-Annenberg schools."…..

The CAC did not improve the schools, and in some ways made things worse. The executive summary also notes: "Classroom behavior, students’ sense of self-efficacy, and social competence were weaker in 2001 than before the Challenge."

The report stated: "In 2001, students in Annenberg schools were somewhat less inclined than in 1994 to respect each other, work well together and help each other learn." Neither student attitudes nor student achievements were aided by Obama’s efforts.

So, the socialistic attitudes only resulted in resentment towards each other with less accomplishments.  Is this really what we want for our Country?

Not being left behind are Obama’s daughters, who attend the private University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. There the tuition ranges from $15,528 for kindergarten to $20,445 for high school. When asked about it during last year’s YouTube debate, Sen. Obama responded that it was "the best option" for his children.

What disturbs me the most is how many people Obama seems to be involved with that Hate America.  Why would Obama want to be around these hateful people if he truly loved America?  We have Ayers who is a non-apologetic terrorists who didn’t serve any time in jail, despite his obvious guilt, because information against him was obtained without a proper warrant.  On the other hand we have Reverend Write who preaches American hate in his sermons, the same sermons that Obama heard for over 20 years.

scrat Now, what about the voter fraud and ACORN.

Obama directed Illinois Project Vote from April to October 1992.  Not too long before the CAC fiasco.  Project Vote works with local chapters of ACORN to get people to register to vote.  From Chicago Mag January 1993 article:

The number of new voter registrations before the election hit an all-time high. And the majority of those new voters were black. More than 150,000 new African-American voters were added to the city’s rolls. In fact, for the first time in Chicago’s history-including the heyday of Harold Washington-voter registrations in the 19 predominantly black wards outnumbered those in the city’s 19 predominantly white ethnic wards, 676,000 to 526,000.

For the first time in ten years, more than half a million blacks went to the polls in Chicago……..

None of this, of course, was accidental. The most effective minority voter registration drive in memory was the result of careful handiwork by Project Vote!, the local chapter of a not-for-profit national organization….

At the head of this effort was a little-known 31-year-old African-American lawyer, community organizer, and writer: Barack Obama. The son of a black Kenyan political activist and a white American anthropologist…….

First of all, didn’t Obama omit his father when describing his roots in Selma?  Now we find out he was a political activists?  And his mother an Anthropologists?  What happened to his mother being a simple woman from Kansas?

Anywho….. Obama was the director of Project Vote which has ACORN help with voter registration.  ACORN has now been accused of major voter fraud.  Could Obama have known and participated in this voter fraud 16 years ago?  It does put some doubt in my mind considering how "well" Obama did.  No matter what the results of the investigation are, we will all still think about this.

By the way, both the CAC and Project Vote are Obama’s claims to fame on why he has enough experience to be president.
