Historical Propaganda still influencing us today
We have discussed WWII many times on here and on many other pro life sites. It usually starts with the proposed connection between the countless murdered Jews to the countless murdered unborn. However, there are times when it switches gears and we discuss the Christian role in WWII and Poland. I have fought many times about Poland’s role in WWII and the Christian Poles that helped. The reason I have fought it is because no one seemed to believe that the Polish Christians fought hard against the Nazi’s and were murdered in concentration camps right along with the Jews. My history knowledge comes from discussions my Polish family has had and many other people’s knowledge comes from the history books they had in school. The discrepancy has always bothered me.
Nancy Pelosi needs to go back to school
Nancy Pelosi isn’t that bright is she? We keep catching her in one ignorant comment after another. She needs to go back to school to learn History, which seems to be where her ignorance stems from.
She keeps saying that this healthcare vote is just like the partisan voting of Medicare in 1965. She says the republicans didn’t support Medicare either.
Madam Speaker – I’d like to introduce you to the truth:
Medicare was passed during the 89th US Congress. Like today, the Democrats had a majority. There were 67 Democrats and 33 Republicans in the Senate. There were 290 Democrats and 136 Republicans in the House.
The bill passed in the Senate with a vote of 70-24 and in the House with a vote of 307-116.
In the Senate the Dems vote was 57-7 with 4 not voting and the Repubs vote was 13-17 with 2 not voting.
Texas Textbooks that brainwash
I tried to find this story on CNN and MSNBC but I couldn’t find it anywhere but Fox (for National news). I couldn’t. Seriously, I couldn’t. Go to Google news and Fox, along with some conservative blogs/websites, are the only ones talking about this subject. Which is really very funny because both conservative and liberals are being vocal.
Why should we care? This is going on in Texas, not every state, right? Wrong. Texas is one of the biggest buyer of textbooks, which means they have the most say over what textbooks are used in about 90% of America’s public schools.
The battle right now is over what will be taught in social studies and history. From the mindset of the right:
Paul Revere’s Ride
Kristi sent this to me and I found it appropriate to end the day with this poem:
by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Listen, my children, and you shall hear
Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere,
On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-Five:
Hardly a man is now alive
Who remembers that famous day and year.
He said to his friend, — "If the British march
By land or sea from the town to-night,
Hang a lantern aloft in the belfry-arch
Of the North-Church-tower, as a signal-light, —
One if by land, and two if by sea;
And I on the opposite shore will be,
Ready to ride and spread the alarm
Through every Middlesex village and farm,
For the country-folk to be up and to arm."
A Great Prophet of the 20th Century is celebrated today
A prophet is described as “A person gifted with profound moral insight and exceptional powers of expression.” There is no doubt that Martin Luther King, Jr. fits that description. ![]()
He was the prominent leader of the American Civil Rights Movement in the 1950’s and 1960’s. His idea’s of nonviolent activism was directly influenced by Mahatma Gandhi. In 1959 he made a trip to India and visited the Gandhi family which led to his further understanding and deep belief that non-violence resistance is the best way to revolt against an unjust system.
Some of his greatest moments were based around speeches and protests. One of the greatest and most known protest he led was the Montgomery Bus Boycott in 1955. The boycott lasted for 385 days and led to an end of bus segregation in Montgomery, Alabama. Getting his message across was difficult for an African American and in keeping with his non-violent beliefs he helped to organize many marches.
History Repeats itself
We have all heard the many arguments that some believe abortion is similar to the Holocaust and many different idea’s are used for this. However, the article I just read that Samuel Ferraro recommend I read really does put things in perspective on
this debate.
What happens when we compare the abortion laws and the propaganda surrounding abortion before WWII to today? That is the premise of Anne Barbeau Gardiner review of the book “Cultures of Abortion in Weimar Germany”. By Cornelie Usborne.
Here is just some of the book review by Gardiner:
Contraception, of course, was not foolproof, so abortions multiplied and “official disapproval” of them faltered…..German law on abortion became “one of the most liberal in the world” because doctors could easily convince officials that any abortion was necessary for “health” reasons.
“Why I attended a Tea Party (an abbreviated autobiography)”
Dear Olde Dad sent me a presentation he gave to his local Inquisitors Club. It is so good, I wanted to share with everyone. (Gee, I wonder whose Dad he could be? hmm….) – I removed personal information.
John Goodman, explaining the town-hall protests in a Wall Street Journal article: “Why are they so angry? The reasons are manifold, but the single biggest reason is the arrogance of our elected officials in Washington. Think about it. For the past seven months a small group of politicians has been meeting behind closed doors with powerful special interests to decide whether
· You will be able to keep your current (health) insurance,
· Where you will be directed to get new insurance and at what price,
· What fines you and your employer will have to pay if you don’t conform,

History? No need to learn that!
How many times do we hear that? That we will never use history in our “real” lives so why take the class? Why learn it at all? Let the historians deal with it and leave us all alone, right?
Well, there is an advertising staff in Pennsylvania that wish they had listened to that boring history teacher, elementary teacher that is. It is a scary world we live in when a group of people can’t put this together:
Warren Times Observer Publisher John Elchert says the ad appeared Thursday. It read, "May Obama follow in the steps of Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley and Kennedy!" ……. Elchert tells The Associated Press that the newspaper’s advertising staff didn’t make the historical connection.
Before printing that, wouldn’t you have looked into what those 4 presidents have in common? Especially since Lincoln and Kennedy are in that list? Wouldn’t that have been a tip off?
High School 1957 VS 2008
My Dad just sent this to me. It was too good not to share with everyone.
HIGH SCHOOL — 1957 vs. 2008
Scenario 1:
Jack goes quail hunting before school and then pulls into the school parking lot with his shotgun in his truck’s gun rack.
1957 - Vice Principal comes over, looks at Jack’s shotgun, goes to his car and gets his shotgun to show Jack.
2008 – School goes into lock down, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.
Scenario 2:
Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.

1957 – Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up buddies.
2008 – Police called and SWAT team arrives – they arrest both Johnny and Mark. They are both charged them with assault and both expelled even though Johnny started it.
