Following the Citizens United decision, Murray Hill Inc has decided it will run for a seat in Congress.

The campaign ad that Murray Hill has released enforces it’s right to run as the Supreme Court has designated such corporations as people. It also makes light of the decision, saying now they may directly represent themselves, rather than paying lobbyists and relying on indirectly affecting the process.

Now, in full disclosure, their website claims Murray Hill is a progressive organization founded in 2005, so it’s more left wing mocking of the law. However, it does pose an interesting question. Why can’t they run for office and have a designated delegate? After all, they are considered legal persons now, with the reasoning coming from the 14th amendment. It only makes sense they can run for office too, or act as advisors, etc.

Bully’s in the White House

I can’t help but to laugh at all the people who are “surprised” at how the White House is trying to intimidate the news organizations into reporting only positive stories on what they are doing.  Seriously!  They are surprised.  It’s not like we, conservatives, didn’t forewarn everyone that this would happen.  You can go here and here to see just two of the articles I wrote on the subject before the elections.

Well, the New York Times, along with most of the other liberal news organizations, are finally waking up:

Mr. Ailes, (chairman and chief executive at FNC) who had reached out to Mr. Axelrod (Sr. White House adviser) to address rising tensions between the network and the White House, told him that Fox’s reporters were fair, if tough, and should be considered separate from the Fox commentators who were skewering President Obama nightly, according to people briefed on the meeting. Mr. Axelrod said it was the view of the White House that Fox News had blurred the line between news and anti-Obama advocacy. new-york-times-building

America’s toughest Sheriff fights federal government

I just love this sheriff.  Joe Arpaio is fighting with the federal government again.  Why?  Because he is actually arresting illegal aliens in his county.  *Gasp* How dare he follow the laws of the land!

An Arizona sheriff known for cracking down on people who are in the country illegally launched a crime and immigration sweep in northwestern metro Phoenix on Friday, a half day after SheriffJoeArpaio officials in Washington limited his powers to make federal immigration arrests….

"It doesn’t bother me, because we are going to do the same thing," said Arpaio, whose deputies had arrested 16 people by Friday evening on unspecified charges. "I am the elected sheriff. I don’t take orders from the federal government."

Confessions of an Abortion Addict

A new memoir has come out that has everyone on the abortion debate at a loss for words:

A woman has admitted to being ‘an abortion addict’ after having 15 terminations over 17 years.

Irene Vilar said she had the abortions not from poverty or fear but as an extraordinary act of rebellion against her ‘controlling’ husband who did not want children……

Now a successful literary agent with two young daughters, Loretta, five, ImpossibleMotherhood and Lolita, three, Mrs Vilar has written about her experiences in a memoir, called Impossible Motherhood: Testimony of an Abortion Addict…..

Mrs Vilar said of the book’s reception: ‘I am worried about my safety and the hate mail. I just imagine the “baby killer” stuff and I could be a poster child for that kind of fundamentalism.’

Religious people have never been criticized!

Whew!  I’m so glad that the Center for Inquiry has informed us that Religious people have never been criticized and have been allowed to walk around free for too long.

September 30 is International Blasphemy Day according to the Center for Inquiry.  The day wasChristianShapes-Crosses chosen because it is the anniversary date of the Danish Cartoon of Muhammad that outraged the Muslim communities.  However, their events don’t seem to be criticizing Islam at all, but only Christians.  Hm….. Stupid is as Stupid does is such a good description of this group.

Other than the Danish Cartoon there was one more thing that got the Atheists butts-a-burning:

The UN, rather than standing up for free speech, has given in to pressure from Islamic nations and has proposed a resolution to essentially ban criticism of religion. In its pursuit of "tolerance" for religion, this resolution wants to strip everyone, everywhere, of their freedom, even their obligation, to criticize what they oppose.

Breaking News

I’m going to break our tradition of no posts on Sunday because this is a story I have followed my entire life.  A pedophile that the Hollyweirdo’s admire has been detained:

Director Roman Polanski has been taken into custody by Swiss police on a 31-year-old U.S. arrest warrant, organizers of the Zurich Film Festival said Sunday.

Polanski fled the United States in 1978, a year after pleading guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl.

The 76-year-old director of such classic films as "Chinatown" and "Rosemary’s Baby" recently sought dismissal of his case on grounds of misconduct by the now-deceased judge who had arranged a plea bargainLibertyJustice and then reneged on it.

Polanski has lived for the past three decades in France, where his career has continued to flourish. He received a directing Oscar in absentia for the 2002 movie "The Pianist."

Town Hall Pep Rally

I attended a town hall meeting 2 nights ago, here in Skokie, Illinois, hosted by Democratic House Rep.Jan Schakowsky .  Before we left the house, one of our party received this email…

http://directorblue.blogspot.com/2009/08/attention-chicagoland-readers-jan.html

Description: Health Care Reform Town Hall with Congresswoman Schakowsky
Parking Lot Open to the Public at 5 PM
Congresswoman Schakowsky will be holding a town hall meeting to discuss President Obama’s Health Care Reform plan, and we want to hear from you.
Jan’s top priority in Congress is to help President Obama pass real health care reform, but corporate lobbyists and right-wing extremists will stop at nothing to derail the President’s reform agenda, by disrupting town hall meetings and attempting to squelch debate.
We need to hear from you on Monday, August 31st about how you would like to see the health care system fixed, and to show your support for health care reform. This event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM, but we expect a large turnout, so please plan on arriving between 5:00 and 5:30. Please note, school will be in session at Niles West that day, and the public will not be allowed on campus BEFORE 5:00 PM.

The internet police are baaaack…..

Okay, what is going on here.  First, we need to model our healthcare after communistic Cuba, now we need to model our cyber security after China.

From NBC:

Cross cyber terrorism off of your list of things to worry about. President Barack Obama has it covered…….

CNET News obtained a copy of the 55-page draft (pdf), which still contains the controversial presidential seizure powers of the initial draft of the bill. Security experts and civil rights groups worry the bill would Rosarito give the president too much power to control the Internet.

The new version of the bill would give Mr. Obama the ability to "direct the national response to the cyber threat" for "the national defense and security" of the country, CNET reported. The bill would also allow the president to "declare a cyber security emergency" over "non-governmental" computer networks and to decide the necessary response.
